To many people think of their lives in "should ofs" or "could ofs" You don't have to be that person. You can have the life you want but it won't be without work and self-examination but it can be done. So whether you are facing adversity, in a rut or trying to take your life to another level I can help you find more happiness and success in your personal life.
I live by and coach by a few simple principles;
- The right attitude allows you to accomplish anything.
- If you want a lot out of life, and you should, it will ask a lot in return and that is ok.
- Whether you created the environment you're in or it was an uncontrollable set of
events, you have to take responsibility to make it better. Don't wait for a pill or
someone else to fix your life.
- We all face challenges but they don't mean you have to change what you want from
and for your life.
- Great things are accomplished with the help of great people
August 29, 19992 a simple dive off a dock changed my life forever. In the three seconds it took to fall my life change forever. I instantly broke my neck and was told within a couple of weeks I was told I was a quadriplegic with no hope of every walking again paralyzed from the chest down with no sensation function or movement below my chest. They said I would need an electric wheelchair and an aid with me to dress and feed me because my arms would be so weak and hands so impaired. The doctors told me it would be impossible for me to live an independent life.
As I said before adversity and life's challenges will come but they don't have to change what you want from and for your life. I didn't blindy follow what the doctors and medical experts point of view and as a result a year after my accident I was living independently and getting ready to go back to work full-time. Since then I have gone on to live the same life I always imagined I would live; I have had a successful professional career at two Fortune 500 companies, begun my own consulting business to pursue my passion of motivational speaking, I am married and busy raising three small children, ran two non-profits (one of which I founded) and keep up a very busy social life seeing family and friends all over the country.
I truly believe a life worth living will have adversity and obstacles in pursuit of your dreams and life. For many of you those adversities or obstacles to a better life are not visible to the world where my disability is out there for the world to see. That makes them no less significant as a matter of fact I think it is more difficult for those of you. However, these challenges can be the first step to a happier more fulfilling life.
I took what easily could have been my worse day and turned it into my best day. Let me help you do the same for yourself.
